Illustration

Illustration resources for architects: technique guides, CAD people in illustrated styles, drawing courses and studies of buildings drawn rather than photographed.

An illustrated drawing says something a render cannot. It admits it is a representation, which frees it to emphasise what matters and leave out what does not — the reason competition boards and concept work still lean on illustration long after photoreal rendering became cheap.

Style has to be a decision, not an accident. Line weight, colour range and level of abstraction set once and held across a set produce a coherent argument; changed halfway through, they read as indecision. That applies to the entourage too, which is why illustrated figures belong in illustrated drawings and nowhere else.
