Vegetations

Planting is what makes a site drawing read as a place rather than a footprint. This collection covers vegetation in every form an architectural drawing needs: top-view trees for plans, elevation trees with visible trunks, shrubs and ground cover, indoor plants, and the shadows that make them sit on the ground.

Formats run across the tools you already use. Photoshop brushes for stamping quickly, vector packs for diagrams and clean linework, CAD blocks for technical drawings, and PNG cutouts for renders and collages.

The most common mistake is mixing scales and styles in one drawing. A photoreal tree beside an abstract one destroys the read of both, and a plan crown drawn at the wrong size makes the building look either enormous or tiny. Decide the drawing style first, then pick one vegetation family and stay inside it. Keep shadow on its own layer so you can adjust the sun angle without redrawing the planting.

Our guide to Photoshop tree brushes covers sizing, layer order and shadow logic in plan and elevation.
