In this online course, James teaches you how to conceptualize, design, and render a photorealistic architectural scene using the Open Source software, Blender. Learn how to observe the world around you and capture its key elements through digital rendering. Experiment with 3D and pursue your own artistic style!
Begin the course by getting to know producer and animator James Tralie. Discover how he turned a childhood love for film and animation into a career at NASA, along with the influences that inspire him.
Learn to observe the natural world and take pictures. Then assemble a mood board and sketch your final project, either on paper or on a screen. James introduces you to Blender and the world of 3D modeling, and shows you how to set up your workspace.
Next, see how to block out the scene and arrange initial lighting. Refine your piece and add finer details before exploring advanced texturing techniques, and incorporating natural elements.
Set up the compositor in Blender, and hit render on your creation. To wrap up the course, James takes you through the final edits in Photoshop and, as a bonus, shares his advice for building an award-winning portfolio.
